First decide where the product should be sold—then search for the Czech distributor that can reach those accounts
A supermarket product, specialist food, industrial component, construction material, medical device and B2B technology require very different Czech channels. We start from the target customer and purchasing route, then identify distributors, importers or direct buyers that already operate in that route.
The search should answer more than “are they interested?” It should test expected margin, MOQ, stock, marketing effort, technical support, territory and whether the candidate carries competing products. Direct key-account sales may be better when the buyer universe is concentrated.
A practical distributor / buyer search can include
- Czech channel map showing where the target customer actually buys
- Named distributors, importers, wholesalers, retailers or direct accounts relevant to the product
- Portfolio and capability screening, including obvious conflicts and service requirements
- Initial approach with a clear Georgian supplier proposition and buyer-ready information
- Meeting coordination and structured comparison of interested candidates
- Support framing trial orders, launch obligations, KPIs and conditional exclusivity
Map the channel
Define the Czech end customer and the route through which the purchase happens.
Qualify candidates
Research and approach companies that already serve that route.
Test commercially
Compare margin, stock, launch effort, territory, service and first-order conditions.
Define the Czech end customer before naming distributor candidates
The distributor has to reach the place where the product is actually bought: retail chains, specialist stores, horeca, pharmacies, industrial plants, contractors, e-commerce, dealers or other channels. We map the route first and search inside it.
Test margin, stock, promotion and workload—not only interest
A distributor can like the product and still be the wrong partner. We test expected margin, order size, stock commitment, marketing effort, technical support, payment terms and the internal workload required to launch another supplier.
Use direct key-account sales when the Czech buyer universe is concentrated
If a small number of Czech accounts dominate the opportunity, adding a distributor may reduce margin without adding enough access. We compare direct sales, importer/distributor and representative models before recommending the channel.
Check portfolio conflicts and whether the candidate can execute
The shortlist should show what each company already sells, which customer groups it reaches, whether competing brands create a conflict, and what operational capabilities are visible. Where appropriate, public-record checks can support the commercial screening.
Start with measurable launch obligations before granting broad exclusivity
A practical first phase can define target accounts, sample activity, first-order objectives, reporting and a review date. Territory or exclusivity can then expand when the distributor demonstrates real execution.
